The Organisational Energy Envelope - Key to Transformation

The Organisational Energy Envelope - Driver of all Performance

Every system from atoms and galaxies to you and your organisation, must have a boundary.

So here is a test for you and your colleagues.  Where is your organisational boundary?  Can you find it?  Think carefully.

Not so easy is it?  The more you explore this question the more you will realise that your organisation does not really exist at all in the real world.  It exists only in the minds and imagination of people.

The organisation is an imaginary sphere that uses intellectual energy to convert ideas into the real world of action and things.  See it as a symbiosis of intelligent thinking and intelligent action, contained in an imaginary energy sphere.

Further each imaginary sphere evolves a specific DNA (the rules and meta-rules that control thinking and behaviour) and a stable equilibrium level of system energy.  (Where energy is the level of intelligent thinking and intelligent action available in the system.)

And it is this level of system energy that determines all performance.  We call this the Organisational Energy Envelope.

This really matters.

The level of system energy equates to the system's potential or capability.  It can never perform outside of it's Energy Envelope.

And this is why the vast majority of leadership and organisational transformations fail.  (Estimated at over 90%.)  New visions, creative ideas, new strategies generally require higher levels of system energy.  That is, energy outside of the existing Energy Envelope.

Action to expand the your Organisational Energy Envelope

It defies belief that we have all the evidence that leadership training and development, for all practical purposes, is a waste of time and money;

that most employees dislike their bosses;

that over 90% of organisational transformations fail;

yet collectively and globally, we bash on like lemmings expecting the old tools to deliver different results.

Based on our own evidence and experience over three decades there are but two strategies to expand your Organisational Energy Envelope.

Strategy One

Use scientific analytics and scientific thinking and tools to engineer a higher energy system, thus expanding the energy envelope and system capability.

Strategy Two

Defy the laws of physics, and wave your magic wand.
