Real leadership in a post pandemic world will be based on a new and deeper understanding of physical intelligence and its critical role in our successful evolution.
by John Raddall
Scott Grafton shows us how physical intelligence has been the foundation of our biological evolution for the past 200,000 years. We are surrounded by physical intelligence from the olympic athlete to the skateboarder and the waitress. Until recent times the image in our heads has been a mirror of the external world. A movement here a rustle there - we had to place it as quickly as possible on the stage in our heads and react to stay alive.
Since the industrial revolution all has changed and our genes have become unfit for purpose. We have disposed of the evolutionary power of our finely tuned image of the external world and replaced it with 'boxes' and worst of all Zoom screens where physical intelligence has become redundant.
However we cannot fool our genes. Living in an imaginary world without our inner 'world stage' linked to the external world has led to extreme confusion, stress, isolation and even mental health issues.
Real leadership is not about theory in the classroom, online leadership programmes, new age books and workshops. Real leadership in a post pandemic world will be based on a new and deeper understanding of physical intelligence and its critical role in our successful evolution.
